The ASME-type venturi produces a differential pressure with the lowest permanent pressure loss of any classical flow meter, with a constant coefficient across the normally used range of beta ratios and Reynolds numbers. Because the design has no sharp edges or protrusions to wear, its accuracy is sustained indefinitely.
Every Energy Flow venturi is manufactured for a specific beta ratio or throat diameter — the optimum design for your differential, piping, and accuracy requirements, rather than a compromise from a limited cast selection. In many applications, accuracies of ±0.5% can be assured without laboratory flow calibration.
Fabricated construction is more durable than cast flow meters yet weighs far less — a 12″ fabricated venturi weighs roughly 275 lbs against 800 lbs cast — cutting shipping and installation costs. Venturis handle liquid slurries and gases with entrained liquids, and often perform as well as or better than magnetic flow meters in slurry service at a fraction of the cost.
Options include piezometer rings or averaging annulus taps, cleanout rods, purge rotameters, abrasion-resistant materials, bi-directional designs, low-Reynolds-number designs, and control applications with a valve in the exit cone.
